In a festive recollection of royal Christmas pastimes, former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared an insight into the fun-filled and tradition-laden celebrations of the British Royal Family, particularly highlighting a humorous incident involving Prince William.

Speaking with Slingo, Harrold, who served from 2004 to 2011, reminisced about a particularly lively Christmas party at St. James' Palace where Prince William, Prince Harry, and Queen Camilla were present. The memorable moment? A water fight between Prince William and another staff member, with Harrold caught in the middle.

"It was hilarious, and everyone was in fits of laughter," he said, revealing a lighter, more playful side of the royals.

These Christmas gatherings are an essential part of the royal calendar, with the family typically convening at Sandringham for their annual traditions. These include a walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church and an opportunity to greet well-wishers post-service. According to Harrold, King Charles III is keen on maintaining these cherished traditions, which he grew up with.

"The King will do what he can to carry on that tradition as it has been what he's used to while growing up. I don't think he would want to let that tradition stop," Harrold stated.

The former butler also outlined the typical Christmas Day schedule for the royal family, noting the early church visit, gift exchanges during afternoon tea, and the importance of the 11 a.m. service at Sandringham. Despite the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Harrold believes that while "Christmas will have changed a bit," the core traditions will likely remain steadfast.

This year's Christmas walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church was led by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children in tow. They were joined by other family members, including Princess Anne and her family, Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, underscoring the continued commitment to tradition and family unity.
